I really hope you had a great time. The only reason I go to pride is as an excuse to see a lot of my friends. I haven't taken part in the parties for years and I mostly prefer to end up in a park sit down and have some beers with my friends among the straight people. We usually end up making fun of the ridiculously dressed gays walking around.

@heyitsjake I have been following your coming out on your blog. I do hope you get to come to a pride event next year. You will have an awesome time. I have heard awesome things about NYC pride. Actually I am supposed to be traveling your way in October. I can't wait to check out all the historic gay places in NYC when I am there.

@Jonathan Congratz on Lexington first public pride event. It must have been magical to attend. It must have truly felt like it felt exhilarating to be at such a historic event.

@Hilly you should come to SF Pride one year. I promise you wont be the token straight girl here. San Francisco is so full of love just as many straight people come to pride as do gays. And Darlin' you know Jester and I would make sure you had an awesome time.

Lexington hosted its first *public* pride event yesterday. Interestingly, one block away was a (cultural) diversity festival. Both pride and diversity were completely unrelated events, but it was great to know that anyone driving through downtown could not avoid seeing the variety of walks of life "paraded" before them.

I hope you have a wonderful pride weekend! It's different for me when I go, being the token straight girl, but...I always feel so overwhelmed with that peace of people getting to just be themselves. I think it is a lovely thing!

I will, but I have to wait till august. In the meanwhile I might visit the prides in Sweden (been there twice, was great) and Denmark! There are many good European pride festivals.

We got our national pride today (it is in a different city every year), buy I am skipping it. However, I will visit Amsterdam Canal Pride, and be on a large boat :)

Pride is a combination of all sorts of things, partying, gay rights issues, community feeling. I support prides.
